10/16/2008 - Dark Sector

Finished playing through Dark Sector the other day. I enjoyed it. It became a little repetitive towards the end but it was worth it. Overall gist of the game is that you are a military dude that gets infected with this virus type deal that starts to mutate you. You wind up fighting other mutated people - but they are affected different than you and just are violent bloodthirsty killers, etc etc. You power up and get upgrades every so often, some of which are pretty damn cool. You start off with a boomerang-like weapon that slices and dices. Soon after you get the ability to 'aftertouch' it - which is basically a remote control of the weapon. Now you can decapitate and maim with precision. Other upgrades include invisibility and a forcefield. The later 'boss' fights require you to use your environment to win. With your glaive - the boomerang weapon - you can electrify or burn your enemies. Convieniently placed fires and electrical sparks are placed where you need them to proceed. The final boss was interesting to fight, but not much of a challenge. The game probably took about 8 hours to finish. It's worth the $20 I spent on it.
